TTD signs pact to install energy efficient fans
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has decided to enter into agreement with AP State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation Limited (APSeedco), a joint venture of AP Power Utilities for replacement of the existing 5,000 ceiling fans of TTD buildings with brushless direct current (BLDC) fans in the first phase.

Vijayawada: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has decided to enter into agreement with AP State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation Limited (APSeedco), a joint venture of AP Power Utilities for replacement of the existing 5,000 ceiling fans of TTD buildings with brushless direct current (BLDC) fans in the first phase. These fans are highly energy efficient and could save around 0.88 million units per annum with Rs 62 lakh savings and payback of just two years and two months for the investments. During the webinar participated by TTD officials and Energy Department, Executive Officer of TTD, KS Jawahar Reddy said that TTD is extremely energy efficiency conscious and strongly believes in pro-environmental actions and therefore full focus has been laid on energy efficiency projects and promotion of renewable energy sources.
"The TTD's initiative to go with energy efficient appliances will encourage others to look at green solutions that will help the society and environment as well. TTD which is recognised as the best pilgrimage destination in the country for its most excellent services to its devotees has now focussed to make TTD as a role model in energy efficiency field, not only in the country but also across the world.", EO said. Apart from BLDC fans, the TTD has identified key areas such as replacing water pumping systems with energy efficient pump sets, LED lighting and solar rooftop systems, which will help achieve energy savings and reduce electricity bills in TTD establishments. AP State Energy Conservation Mission, State Designated Agency will implement some portion of the energy efficiency projects in TTD in the areas of LED lighting appliances, BLDC fans and energy efficient pump sets to the extent of the financial support provided by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
